Lesson 4: Introduction to the Varṇa Part 2: The Consonants


Lesson 4 introduces the consonants and takes you deeper into experiencing the coherence creating effects of the Sanskrit language.


In this lesson you will, 


  • Continue to learn about the Varṇamālā or Sanskrit alphabet.

  • Learn how to correctly pronounce all of the consonants of the Sanskrit alphabet, learn how they are organized as well as how write them in the Roman script. 

  • Review the International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST).

  • Begin to experience the coherence creating effects of the Sanskrit language and have a great time doing it!


Lesson 5: Writing the Consonants, Part 1


Lesson 5 continues to explore the Sanskrit alphabet.


In this lesson you will…


  • Review the first ten Sanskrit consonants from lesson 4, as well as how to pronounce them and where they originate in the mouth.

  • Learn how to write the first ten Sanskrit consonants in Devanāgarī script.


Lesson 6: Writing the Consonants, Part 2


Lesson 6 continues to explore the Sanskrit alphabet.


In this lesson you will…


  • Review the Retroflex and Dental Sanskrit consonants from lesson 4, as well as how to pronounce them and where they originate in the mouth.

  • Learn how to write the Retroflex and Dental Sanskrit consonants in Devanāgarī script.
